This weekend a group of Grimsby Town fans, the Internet Mariners, are travelling to Preston to take part in WorldNet 2016 to complete against fans teams from across continent. The Internet Mariners are coming off the back of a successful season, suffering only 2 defeats and they will be looking to continue that form into the tournament.

Previous best finishes have seen the team make the last 16 on two occasions, but the team mainly seeks to spread the word of the Trust, GTFC and to prove that fans can mix with one another in a friendly, competitive environment.

This year 40 teams will converge, with the team due to play the fans teams representing Darlington, Peterborough, Bury and AFC Wimbledon. A chance to mix with some true lower league fans! Then the team will take part in the knockout stages on the Sunday, all with clear heads after maintaining their professionalism by drinking only water the night before.

You can follow the results and progress of the team by following their twitter handle @InternetMariner or by searching for #worldnet16 and then on Facebook by searching for @internetmariners – The Internet Mariners are also always on the lookout for fans that may want to represent the club, regardless of age, standard or fitness level. Should you wish to get more information please contact through either their Twitter or Facebook pages.
In the meantime I am sure you will join us in wishing them good luck!
