Following a successful 2016 Open Day, the Mariners Trust has teamed up with local organisations to launch a bigger and better Community Fun Day this July
Grimsby, 28th June 2017 – The Mariners Trust are delighted to announce the launch of an all new Community Fun Day at Blundell Park on Sunday 23rd July, 10am to 4pm.
The annual Fun Day is a regular occurrence in the Mariners Trust event calendar. This year they have teamed up with Grimsby Town Sports and Education Trust, Grimsby Town Football Club and The Equality Practice to create a bigger and better Community Fun Day. This is designed to welcome the diverse population across North-East Lincolnshire.
Blundell Park welcomes The Bollywood Brass Band (all the way from London), Brazilian style drumming from the talented local Sambalada Band, Chinese traditional dancers, and as a special treat – the Chinese Lion dance!
There will be a competition to win a signed football on the day, and two lucky families even have the chance of winning 2017/18 season tickets, when the winners of the local school art competition are announced.
During the day, people have the chance to view Blundell Park’s new ‘graffiti’ wall, which has been painted by local and nationally acclaimed street artists. Like other years, there will also be a BBQ, bouncy castle, children’s games, climbing wall, football cage, face painting, bar, and hot drinks.
Russell Slade will be bringing the new 2017/18 Grimsby Town squad down to Blundell Park during the day. Fans will be able to watch them train, which will then be followed by a meet and greet session on the pitch. The Club Shop will be open for people to purchase items to sign, but please bring your own marker pens. There will also be autograph books available round the ground.
Hannah Dawson, Mariners Trust Secretary, said:
“We are delighted to be able to work in partnership to create such an amazing family day out for local residents and fans.
“I hope that people who have never been to the Football Club, will accept our invitation to join us and have a great time!
“Grimsby Town Sports and Education Trust and Grimsby Town Football Club are doing a lot to support and welcome the local community, and it is something we, as a Trust, are fully backing.”
