Newsletter 12th December 2018

Hello and welcome to our latest newsletter. We have been very busy in last few weeks as you will see below.

Hospital Radio

When the news broke last week that the live commentary service to the local hospital was in jeopardy because their sponsor had pulled out, we quickly stepped in and organised a crowd funding campaign. In true Grimsby Town Supporter style the response has been overwhelming with the initial target of £500 achieved on the first day. At the time of writing the total is circa £1,000 which secures the service for two years and it is fair to say the volunteers who run the service are absolutely blown away by everyone’s generosity. Please keep it going if you can, the more we can raise the longer we guarantee this wonderful service. Here is the link to the crowd funder: JustGiving

5 Game Ticket Bundle

We are delighted that we have been able to agree with the club a special 5 game ticket bundles which are available to buy from the ticket office until January 1st 2019. These will make an ideal Christmas present for your Mariners mad friend or relation and also these are great for individuals who for one reason or another cannot make it to every home game. As well as a discount compared to the normal early bird price there is the added benefit of holders receiving priority behind season ticket holders for restricted ticket games. Mariners Trust Discount Day

We are also delighted to confirm that for one day only on Sunday December 16th Mariners Trust members making purchases from the club shop either in person or online will be able to claim 10% discount. Also, because we appreciate that many of our members are also season ticket holders which entitles 10% discount anyway, we have agreed a £5 discount on spend of £30 or more. If for example your purchases come to £30 you will pay £25 which represents 16.7% discount. To claim your discount in person just e-mail us at enquiries@marinerstrust.co.uk and we will send you a personalised voucher. For online use the discount code Trust10 for 10% or Trust5 for £5 off £30 or more and the discounts will be applied once membership is verified. Mariners Trust discount day

Juniors Christmas Party

This Thursday, 13th December, we have worked with the club to put on a FREE Christmas party for Junior Supporters. The event takes place in McMenemy’s from 4pm until 6pm and will be attended by the GTFC players and management. There will be a disco and free goody bag for all the junior supporters as well as a free buffet. There are just a handful of tickets remaining for this available from the club offices and please note all juniors must be accompanied by an adult.

Disabled Supporters

We are long standing supporters of the GTFC disabled supporters club and we have a permanent link on our website for anyone wishing to donate. With the news of the Crystal Palace FA cup game this is obviously a game their members are desperate to want to see but it is an unplanned away game for which they are not covered financially. If anyone can help, please use this link: or contact Daphne Farquharson on 01472 696904. Disabled club donation

100 club draw

We are now doing our monthly 100 club draw on the pitch at half time with the winners appearing on the scoreboard. Our next draw is the special Christmas draw with more prizes on offer and will be held at half time during the Notts County game. The prize fund is 50% of the “pot” and so the more entrants we have the bigger the prize fund. The monthly top prize at the moment is £200 and each entry is £5. You can join here: 100 club entry form.

Trust Christmas draw

Our popular Christmas Draw takes place in the players bar (main stand) after the Notts County game and will be attended by one or two of the players. There are lots of great prizes on offer and each entry costs £1 available from any of the bars or online here: Christmas Draw All welcome.

Scoreboard Messages

We are pleased to have agreed with the club a new tier for scoreboard advertising which hopefully makes it more accessible to fans, you can now buy a standard scoreboard message plus PA announcement for £15. The club already offer a customised product for £25 and a Birthday package for £50 which also includes message and photo in programme, card, free programme and scarf. We have also negotiated a 10% discount off these prices for Trust members which go live in the next few days.

Food and Toy appeal

As we approach Christmas, we should all remember that not everyone in our community is fortunate enough to be able to enjoy a nice meal or buy presents for their loved ones. We have therefore once again joined forces with the club to appeal for food donations and any unwanted NEW unwrapped toys or presents. The food should not be chilled or frozen and need to have plenty of shelf life still available on the product. Seasonal products such as Christmas cake, pudding, mince pies etc would be particularly welcome as well as things like canned meat, fish, soup etc. The toys or presents should be new and unwrapped and if you haven’t got any to hand why not buy an extra little something from the club shop and leave it in the collection trolley.

Donations can be left at the club office 9am-5pm Monday -Thursday and at the Mariners Trust bar (entrance on main car park) on Friday 10am-4pm and Sunday 11.30am -2pm. If the only day convenient is a match day, then please contact us and we will make arrangements with you. Thank you in anticipation.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

  1. The blue on black for the button to access the newsletter does not work. The writing cannot be read. I automatically went for the link at the bottom of the page which was the “unsubscribe” link. Luckily I could cancel it.
    Merry Christmas and UTM.
