After a good journey down, we arrived in the ground just in time for kick off. An unnamed team from the disappointing result last week was named against top of the league Plymouth Argyle. After a cagey opening, town started playing nice football down the wings but created nothing of note, then Plymouth should have took the lead 10 minutes before half time, but a diving block then the rebound was put over the bar.

With the game kicking off late due to a remembrance ceremony, a lot of town fans including myself were caught out queuing for a beer, then a lovely cross Berrett was headed into the back of the net by ‘Stokie’ Collins who gave the travelling 350 travelling fans something to go mental over.

The 2nd half started well for town, who controlled the game, then on 60 minutes town had a free kick. Collins headed the ball across goal for Omar, who nodded the ball in the back of the net for this 3rd goal in two games. Argyle never threatened except for long range shots with the back 4 looking really solid. With comebacks vs. Barnet and Notts County, the away support could have been forgiven to feel nervous, but Plymouth never threatened at all. Bolarinwa came on for Chambers and town looked set to see a 2 0 away win out, then on 88 minutes a lovely ball set Bolarinwa free and he was clattered inside the penalty area for a certain penalty. However, the referee allowed play to continue, as the ball fell nicely to Omar, who put the ball in the back of the net to send the travelling fans wild to make their 700 mile round trip worth while.

At the final whistle all the players came over and thanked the fans for making the journey. The team looked solid with Gowling and Collins running the game. Jackson never stopped running, and it was hard to fault any of the team. It’s a lovely ground and we were made feel welcome by the stewards.

Overall as away days go you can’t get any better and we can now look forward to Tuesdays nights home game against 2nd in the league Carlisle United.
