So the season is over for all but four teams in the National league.Cheltenham have been promoted at the first time of asking , and Halifax, who the Mariners play in the Trophy final have been relegated.
Although not a great finish to the season, we now have a very good opportunity to get this Club back in to the Football League. It is Braintree over two legs and although this will be testing, the team have all the qualities to win through to the final.
There have been many good points throughout the season, and even though fans will have different opinions on what could have been done differently, at the end of the day we are in a position that would make other clubs envious. (eg Lincoln)
One of the great things about this season has been the fantastic support that has been maintained all season and it is now vital that all supporters rally round Paul and this team on Thursday and show that 12th man spirit. The Club are doing their part in opening the Osmond to home fans and making the game free for accompanied children. The role that the fans can play cannot be underestimated and is a distinct advantage we have over the other teams in play offs, let’s make it really count. All of the players have commented on what a difference it makes when the crowd are behind them.
As many of you will know we recently launched an appeal to raise money to sponsor the Disabled supporters coach to Wembley, and following donations from many supporters as well as our friends at the Grosvenor and Jubilee pubs and DFDS Seaways we raised well in excess of £2000 and we will be presenting a cheque to the Disabled section before the game on Thursday. The generosity and dedication of our fans never ceases to amaze us so please let’s have one final push and turn out in numbers on Thursday and get right behind the team.
