The double celebration evening for the 1971/72 and 1979/80 squads this Friday is fast approaching. Here are the details of the evening:
Players – We have a number of players attending from both squads. For the 1971/72 we have Harry Wainman, Dave Worthington, Alan Woodward, Owen Simpson, Stewart Gray, Dave Boylen, Jack Lewis and Ian Turner. For 1979/80 we have Joe Waters. Bobby Cumming, Nigel Batch, Dave Moore, Mike Brolly, John Stone, Tony Ford, Kev Drinkell and Kevin Kilmore. Joe and Bobby are both travelling from America especially for the event. We are also very pleased to welcome some special guests such as Terry Donovan, Keith Hanvey and Alec King. We are also hoping George Kerr will make it.
We have been in regular dialogue with Lawrie McMenemy over the last couple of months and although he cannot make it for the evening he is ending us a special video message which we will play on the night.
Book – The evening sees the launch of the fantastic new book by Rob Mcilveen celebrating the 1971/72 season. It is called “Walking down the Grimsby Road” and those who have pre-ordered will be able to collect it on the night. Copies will also be available for sale at the event (Priced £15). For anyone not attending we will have a collection point at the ground on Saturday before the Maidenhead game and we will also be opening the Trust Bar for collections and sales on Sunday morning 11am -1pm. For anyone who has selected postage we will start to post out on Friday.

Tickets – If you have purchased tickets for the event or the original 1979/80 event they can be collected from the club office during normal office hours ( 10-4) and we will also be opening the Trust Bar on Tuesday 4pm-6pm. Tickets can also be collected at the door on the night.
The original allocation of tickets have been sold but we are pleased to announce that we have agreed with the club to issue a small number of additional tickets on a first come first served basis. Here is the link: Tickets
Event Format – VIP ticket holders will be able to gain access from 6.30pm. They will have the opportunity to mix with players, have photos etc until 7.30pm when they will then move through to McMenemy’s to take their seats for the event
Standard ticket holders should arrive from 7.30pm for an 8 pm start.
You will see a seating plan when you first enter McMenemy’s, if you have any requests to be sat with someone and haven’t already let us know then please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do our very best to accommodate your request.
After brief introductions we will have a Pie , Chips and Peas supper plus Dessert. This will then be followed by a Q& A with the players hosted by Kev Rogers. Cards for you to write your questions will be on the tables.
During the evening we will have some great moments from both era’s showing on the screens although we only have limited footage from the early 1970’s.
We will also have a raffle and auction as well as some signed memorabilia for sale.
We expect the evening to finish around 11pm.
