Many of you will know or know of Histon Mariners who are fantastic supporters of the Club and indeed Mariners Trust (they were one of the major sponsors that enabled the return of Harry Haddock). As the name suggests they are based in Histon and run the Red Lion pub in the “village”. On the day of the Cambridge game they are inviting Town fans to visit pre and/or post match and will donate 30p/pint to the Trust which in turn we will pass on to Youth Development. They are putting on a BBQ and will have a marquee, then if anyone fancies making a night of it they have live music on in the evening.
The pub is approx 6 miles from CUFC and as we understand it there are no suitable pubs close to the ground. The address is:
27 High St, Histon, Cambridge CB24 9JD
Here are couple of useful links
It is a fantastic pub and well worth a visit. See you there.
Junior Mariners FREE Competition
We have a couple of FREE competitions for our Junior members. The first is the fantastic prize of a free mascot place worth £160 and can be for any game of your choice subject to availability. To enter just e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Also we have a couple of great FREE draws for October half term. We are planning to run a “press conference” in the press room at Blundell Park with a couple of players followed by a ground tour. We are just waiting for confirmation of day/time. Also we are doing a free draw for places at on the half term coaching courses run by GTFC Sports and Education Trust. To enter either or both again just e-mail us.
We are in need of some experienced Bar Staff to become part of our great team on match days. If you are interested please e-mail us or contact Sharon on 07564194142.
We have now finished the transition onto the new membership system and part of the advantage will be automated notification of renewals. To facilitate this we are extending the renewal date for those who have yet to renew to the end of October. Thank you for your patience in this matter.
Also we have sourced some membership cards and we will be rolling these out, starting with Life Members, over the coming weeks. Once rolled out we will be announcing some benefits for members with some corporate partners.
FA Cup Draw
We are once again running our popular FA Cup draw and tickets are now on sale. The draw will take place on Friday 27th January 2017 in the Trust bar as part of our Quiz night. A reminder of the format. There will be 32 winners each allocated a team in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Each winner receives £20 but if your team makes the Semi Final then the prize becomes £75 and if your team reaches the final you will receive £250 as runner up or a magnificent £500 if your team are the eventual FA Cup winners. Tickets are £1 each (books of 10) and can be purchased online here http://www.marinerstrust.co.uk/cat/draw-tickets/
or are available at the bars in the ground. Also we are looking for people who think they can sell some books at their work or to family/friends. If you think you can help please e-mail us at email@example.com
With Xmas approaching we have a number of items still available and we will be running a number of very special offers on some of these over the coming weeks. We have very limited stocks of This Town Knows books and Harry Haddocks and we will not be getting anymore stock of either. If you want either of these we would recommend you buy asap while stocks last. Here is the link http://www.marinerstrust.co.uk/cat/merch/
Dates for your diary
On Friday 9th December we will be holding a night of Grimsby Songs and Poetry called “Can you hear the Grimsby sing”. It will be in the Trust bar and tickets will be £5 with all proceeds going to the Youth fund. Further details will be announced shortly.
Also as mentioned we will be holding another of our popular Football Quizes on Friday 27th January 2017 and this night will also incorporate the FA Cup prize draw.
Finally we are hoping to announce details of another speaker evening shortly
